KARNPLAY CITY- What appears to be a misuse of power is taking place in Karnplay City, Nimba County.

The Mayor of Karnplay City, Dabah Zain, has written a communication to his predecessor, Philip Blessing Flomo, to gather some residents of the city to celebrate the 58th birthday anniversary of former President George M. Weah.

A communication that has since circulated on social media with a copy in possession of NTV is inviting the former mayor to appear before his successor to clarify their celebration and planting of billboards in the city.

According to the communication, the former mayor, Philip Blessing Flomo, was verbally invited on a local Radio Station (Karn Voice of Peace) to appear in the office of the Mayor by 10:00 AM on October 2, 2024, but failed to do so, prompting the mayor Zain to do a written communication to the effect.

“We saw you and some young men and women parading the street of Karnplay and planting billboards with the former President George Weah photos therein without the City authorization” read the letter.

When contacted, the former mayor, Philip Blessing Flomo, admitted to celebrating the former President’s birthday with some loyal partisans of the former CDC in Karnplay but denied the allegation of planting billboards as insulated by the current mayor.

Flomo disclosed that they gathered at the city square to parade, but we were advised by the police to use the back road, something he said they obey as law-abiding citizens, and the parade ended at his residence in Karnplay, where the rest of the celebration took place.

Speaking to our reporter about the motive behind the communication inviting the former mayor, Dabah Zain said that his office was disrespected and overlooked by the former mayor and his followers. Mayor Zain claimed that he was not informed about the celebration of the former President in his city.

“I am not against the celebration of the former President, but for Mr Flomo and his men to plant a billboard without telling me is a disservice and disrespect to my office”. He indicated that loyalists of the CDC was behaving like they were still in a campaign mood during the former President’s birthday.

Zain has, at the same time, made allegations that most of the supporters of the CDC were drug consumers. He asserted that his son is one of that narcotic substance abuser who is also a supporter of the CDC.
