Man 30 death causes panic in the Beo region
GANTA CITY- It has been a scene of unrest for residents of Beo Garnaglay and Beo-Yoola towns following the mysterious killing of Melvin Sangar in Garnaglay town.
The incident occurred on Friday, September 13, 2024, when Melvin Sangar age 30 along with others were coming from watching a football game in Beo-Yoolar Town, upon coming where Gabriel Kpatee age 18 waisted dirty water on Melvin, he (Melvin )decided to take Gabriel to complain to his father but did not see his father rather his grandfather and complained him.
The grandfather asked that Melvin should call Gaberil for both of them to come and investigate the case.
Accordingly, Melvin went and held Gaberil by his shirt and told him that his grandfather had called him.
Upon arrival before his grandfather, Gabriel took a knife from his side and stabbed Melvin with it on the right side of his neck, leaving the stale in his neck. The handle of the knife remained in the hands of Gaberil, and he dropped it and escaped the scene.
The situation, which occurred at about 7:30 PM, left Melvin bleeding.
Melvin was rushed to the Beo-Yoola clinic, but due to the bad road condition, they arrived at the clinic at 8:00 AM, and he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The situation angered the people of Garplay and Kpiaplay, the hometowns of the dead mother and father, who went and requested that the alleged perpetrator be hand-delivered to them.
They set about four houses, and two kitchens ablaze.
The violent situation led LDEA officers from Garplay to go and calm down the situation, but they couldn’t control the tension, so officers of the Police Support Unit from the Gbarnga Regional Hub came with additional manpower to help restore calm.
The Statutory Superintendent of Gbehlay Geh James Zuopeawom, along with the County Crime Service Division Emmanuel Gruasea along with other local officials, intervened and helped remove the body from the Beo Yoola clinic and was laid to rest in Garnaglay town on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at about 5:30 PM.
Speaking to the town chief of Garnaglay Town, Melvin Dao, he expressed regret for the incident and extended sympathy to the bereaved family.
Town chief Dao assures that they will collaborate with state security to have the perpetrator arrested and face justice.
He asserted that the action of Gabriel Kaptee was the first of its kind to occur in the town.
For her part, the CM of the Beo Yoola clinic, Kpana Gbedeah, mentioned that when residents of Garplay and Kpiaplay violently move to the clinic for the remains of Melvin, most of the patients have to leave the facility out of fear, while most of the pregnant women who were running away got minor injuries.
