GANTA CITY- The President of the Liberia Nuser Anesthesia Association has called for professionalism and unity within the association in Liberia.

Speaking to his colleagues at the Sue-Potter Hall of the Winifred J Harley College of Health Sciences in Ganta, Mehnpaine Dolo called on anesthesics to be professional and unite in their daily work.

Dolo cautioned them to work together as a team and create a high level of assurance for their patients and the community.

“Let us try to strive to achieve excellence in everything we do, adding that it will enhance their advocacy for a much better incentive as leaders.”

He indicated that despite the many challenges faced by anesthesia professional in their country, they have to stand firm and encourage others to join them.

The LANA president mentioned that access to the practice of safe anesthesia in Liberia is a challenge something he said is contributing to the limited anesthesia provider in the country.

“Many people don’t know the importance of the work we do in the medical field; across the country, we have about 90 registered professional anesthesics working with doctors to carry out surgery daily at various hospitals”.

To draw more attention to the profession, Dolo maintained that his leadership is planning to carry out a massive awareness across the country about the importance of anesthesia work in the medical field in Liberia.

He disclosed about many engagements they have had with authorities of the Ministry of Health to make sure that they receive a fair share of what their profession calls for and the kind of work they do.

He spoke during the celebration of World Anesthesia Day, which was celebrated under the theme: Workforce well-being.
