District#4 advances to the next stage, rallying citizens’ Support
Ganta City, As the inter-electoral Peace District league heats up, District Four is one of the contending districts that have advanced to the knockout stage.
In helping to make both kickball and soccer teams stronger and more energized, the steering committee is rallying residents hailing from the District to step up their support for the district.
The tournament which was designed to promote peace and unity among various electoral districts in Nimba County, has been a significant platform for showcasing the talent of young people in the county and to spack players for the upcoming national County Sports Meet.
The Twah River boys and girls, as they are popularly known, have displayed exceptional skills and sportsmanship throughout the first stage of the competition, thus securing their place in the next round.
The success is a proud moment for District Four, reflecting the dedication and hard work of the players, coaches, and the district Sports Steering Committee.
Speaking to reporters after their last game on Saturday, September 14, 2024, Mr. Alvin Wahyeah, Chairman of the District Sports Steering Committee extended their thanks and appreciation to citizens and leaders of the district for their support towards the team’s success in the preliminary round and expresses the team’s excitement and readiness to take on the challenges ahead in the next stage of the 2024/2025 Inter-electoral District Peace Tournament.
Mr. Wahyeah said as the tournament progresses to the next level, the district teams will now be facing a new challenge to ensure that they have the necessary support to continue their progress in making sure that victory is secure in the tournament for the people of District Four.
He asserted that preparing the teams for the next stage requires resources, from transportation and accommodation to training and sporting equipment.
“We are therefore calling on local businesses, community leaders, citizens, and residents of the district, both homes and abroad, to lend their support in any way possible for the success of the district teams,” Chairman Wahyeah noted.
According to him, the district sports steering committee will reach out to every prominent son and daughter for support, whether it’s financial contributions, logistical assistance, or simply cheering the teams on the field, or every bit of support will make a difference in preparing for the next stage.
He further noted that the involvement of District Four teams in the next stage promises to bring even more excitement and pride to the people of the district.
Chairman Wahyeah concluded that with the support of the district’s citizens, they can ensure that their teams have the best chance to succeed and make a positive impact in the remarkable tournament.
