Disable community calls for inclusion
NIMBA County Coordinator of the National Union of Organization for Disabilities has called on the Nimba County Health Team to include persons living with disability in their next polio vaccine campaign.
Making the remarks at the official launch of the 3rd campaign of the polio vaccine in Nimba, Madam Nenlay Doe said the inclusion of persons with a disability will give a boost to the process across the county.
She said that they could serve as ambassadors for the vaccine in various communities and encourage parents to freely allow their children to take the polio vaccine.
Madam Doe said that polio is a deadly disease that affects and hampers the future of any child.
Setting an example for herself, the NUOD county coordinator lamented that she was not born a disabled person but was affected by polio disease at an early age.
“When we are given a chance to participate in the process, we will talk to the parents and tell them how bad it is and some of us will even be setting an example on ourselves”.
